William out of uniform in the Outlander Season 8 leaked photos tells us a lot

As a devoted Outlander fan who has been entangled in the Fraser clan’s time-traveling tales since the turn of the 20th century, I must say that the leaked photos from Season 8 have me both hopeful and apprehensive. The fact that we are nearing the end of this epic saga is a bitter-sweet pill to swallow, but the intrigue surrounding William’s civilian attire in those images leaves me questioning what lies ahead for our beloved characters.

Glimpses into the upcoming tales of Outlander Season 8 undeniably pique our curiosity, particularly surrounding the character of William. Remarkably, recently leaked photos offer intriguing insights.

The images seem to have been captured during the final episodes of Outlander Season 8. These are indeed the last episodes of the series! It’s challenging to predict which plotlines will unfold, as we understand that Season 8 will encompass Book 9 and bring the story to a close. However, William’s attire provides significant clues about something that may transpire for him in the future.

William is not in uniform in the Outlander Season 8 photos

Characters portraying members of the British Army are always depicted wearing their uniforms. Exceptions occur when these characters are no longer serving or are operating in disguise.

Indeed, during Outlander Season 7A, William frequently donned civilian attire. This disguise allowed him to carry out secretive missions on behalf of Captain Richardson.

In the pictures for Season 8 of Outlander, he’s sporting regular clothes again, hinting that a significant event may occur shortly.

William resigns after learning the truth in the Outlander books

In “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood,” William uncovers Jamie as his father, a revelation eagerly anticipated by the show’s audience due to its implications on his narrative. Given the distinctive attire he wears, it seems that this information has indeed been revealed to him.

After discovering he’s not a son of an earl, William steps down from the British Army. He switches from his red uniform to civilian attire, indicating a shift in his identity that we will explore further as he uncovers his real heritage.

In my perspective, it’s quite a challenge for William. He’s grappling with a profound identity dilemma. If he’s not the biological heir of the Earl, then who is he? But when I think about it, he’s the illegitimate son of Jamie Fraser, a truth that leaves me in a whirlwind of questions. How did this happen? Was his mother involved against her will? The unknowns are overwhelming, and they should be, given the situation. Yet, there’s a stubbornness within him, a Fraser trait, that drives him to uncover the truth. This determination means he has to vanish from those who care for him deeply, for an extended period.

Eventually, he comes to terms with his identity and its implications for him. In the final pages of “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone”, he seeks Jamie Fraser’s assistance, suggesting that their story may continue in “Outlander” Season 8.
