William Moseley Recalls The Royals Role, Show’s Cancellation

As a dedicated fan of quality television and having followed The Royals since its debut in 2015, I can genuinely express my deep disappointment with the series’ untimely cancellation after four captivating seasons. Having had the privilege of watching William Moseley‘s exceptional portrayal of Prince Liam Henstridge, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of loss when the show came to an abrupt end.

For four consecutive seasons, William Moseley brought Prince Liam to life on the E! show “The Royals.” This part held a special significance for him because it allowed him extended time to develop and refine his character.

During an interview with ComingSoon, Moseley shared his thoughts on the distinction between acting in a series like The Royals and film productions. He expressed his delight in having the opportunity to build and refine a character throughout the course of four distinct seasons.

“I truly enjoyed watching ‘The Royals’ as I found the character development captivating. The writing by Mark Schwahn was impressive to me. He skillfully shaped the characters, tailoring them to our individualities. In my interpretation, Mark recognized my inclination towards portraying a more serious version of my character in ‘The Royals’ compared to the initial season.”

I wasn’t sure if it was a positive or negative aspect, but I chose to immerse myself in the character’s turmoil, experience his grief, and highlight the intense facets of his persona – fatherless, ready for battle, seeking vengeance. I wanted this depth to show, and Mark crafted an excellent storyline around it for me to bring to life.

Moseley opens up about The Royal’s cancellation

Moseley spoke candidly about the show’s termination, expressing regret that they didn’t have the chance to conclude it satisfactorily for viewers. Nevertheless, he’s pleased that the series has continued to touch fans’ hearts over the years.

Moseley expressed his disappointment in how the show ended, feeling that things were left unresolved. However, as an actor, he understood that he could only do what was asked of him. Despite this, he acknowledged the success of the show, with audiences enjoying it and allowing him to connect with many fans.

In the E! show, Moseley played the role of Prince Liam Henstridge, who was the second-born child of King Simon and Queen Helena. He had a twin sister named Eleanor and was next in line for the throne after his older brother Robert passed away.

The Royal series first appeared on the scene in 2015 and continued until its termination in 2018, totaling 40 episodes. Despite Lionsgate’s efforts to secure a new platform for the show post-cancellation, no takers emerged, ultimately leading to its conclusion.
