Will Trent Season 3 Producer on Where He Went at the End of Season 2

Ramón Rodríguez plays the main character, Will Trent, on the ABC police series, and also acts as an executive producer for the show. At the end of Season 2 finale, it is revealed that Will took a bag with his chihuahua Betty and vanished. Prior to the start of Season 3, Rodríguez shared in a recent interview where Will has been hiding.

Ramón Rodríguez reveals where Will Trent went before Season 3

Rodriguez detailed what transpired with his character during the gap between Seasons 2 and 3 of Will Trent, which premiered on ABC on January 3, 2023. Notably, Season 2 aired on February 20, 2024.

Speaking to TV Insider, Rodríguez shared some insights about Will. He stated that at the beginning of Season 3, we find out where Will was after the events in Season 2 ended – he had traveled to rural Tennessee with Betty. Rodríguez continued by saying, “He vanished without a trace, and no one knows his destination or what he got up to there. However, we learn that he went to rural Tennessee with Betty, attempting to start anew.

Rodríguez also highlighted that the third season would demonstrate a time gap compared to the second by emphasizing how the main character, Will, would appear noticeably different from previous episodes. The actor explained, “…he’s taking some personal time to ponder, escape, and restart, which leads him to question whether his life at GBI was the correct path for him and if it aligns with what he truly wants. This period is filled with self-reflection as he embarks on a reflective journey.

It’s established that Amanda Wagner, played by Sonja Sohn, will come to see Will, causing him to reconsider his past life and return to it, even though he’s hesitant. This decision forces him to confront the tense connections he has with Faith (Iantha Richardson) and Angie (Erika Christensen), remnants from his previous life.

Will Trent Season 3 premieres on ABC on January 7, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET.
