As a seasoned gamer of the silver screen, I’ve seen my fair share of comedic brilliance, and Will Ferrell has consistently been a beacon of laugh-out-loud moments. His career trajectory is nothing short of remarkable, from his humble beginnings on Saturday Night Live to becoming one of Hollywood’s most revered comedic actors.
In the upcoming comedy “Judgment Day,” produced and starring Will Ferrell, his character finds himself and an entire courtroom being held captive, as per reports from Deadline.
The upcoming comedy on Prime Video titled “You’re Cordially Invited,” slated for a release on January 35th, 2025, will be directed by Nicholas Stoller. Previously, he collaborated with Ferrell on this production. At present, details regarding the cast are yet to be revealed as the project is still in developmental stages. According to Deadline’s report, this information was disclosed.
What is Judgment Day about?
In the movie, we’ll witness a newly released prisoner, bitter about a previous court decision by an arrogant TV judge (portrayed by Ferrell), who seizes control of a reality TV courtroom as he believes this ruling destroyed his life.
Besides Ferrell, Stoller, Jessica Elbaum, and Alex Brown are all involved as producers for the upcoming film. For Ferrell, this is another movie added to a bustling schedule, as the renowned actor has just agreed to produce and star in Street Justice, a comedy from 20th Century Studios. In this project, Ferrell will portray a character similar to “Dirty Harry,” who aims to mete out justice personally.
Kicking off his career in the 1990s as part of Saturday Night Live, Ferrell has since established himself as a prominent and thriving actor and comedian within Hollywood. Notable works under his belt include critically-adored comedies such as Elf, Anchorman, Talladega Nights, The Other Guys, among others.
Apart from these, he has been featured in movies such as Megamind, The Lego Movie series, Barbie, and more recently Despicable Me 4. His latest project was the 2024 Netflix documentary “Will & Harper,” which details his relationship with writer Harper Steele after her gender transition.
Stoller has gained significant recognition as a director of comedic films such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek, Neighbors, and most recently Bros (2022), which he co-wrote and directed, featuring Billy Eichner in the lead role.
