One point of contention among prospective viewers appears to be the selection of pop star Ariana Grande as the main character, Glinda the Good Witch. In a recent conversation, the well-known singer addressed these concerns and offered her perspective on the issue.

The 31-year-old artist openly acknowledged that fans have raised concerns about her role in the film adaption of the renowned musical. Moreover, she candidly admitted to comprehending their doubts.

Ariana Grande shared her feelings regarding being cast as Glinda in Wicked during her interview on the Sentimental Men podcast. When discussing the ongoing speculation about her role, she explained that she initially had some apprehension or preconceived ideas about what she might or might not be capable of delivering, or why she might not be suitable for the part.

Ariana Grande acknowledged and understood the audience’s concerns about the casting choice for the iconic role, stating that she would have felt the same way if a different singer had been chosen. “In the same vein as ‘Side to Side,’ I likely would have expressed similar sentiments,” she said. “I probably would have exclaimed, ‘What on earth? Take me instead! I’ve waited 20 years for this. Take me.’ As a fan from an outsider’s perspective, knowing only ‘7 Rings,’ I might have said, ‘That’s nonsense!’ So, in essence, I get it.

Before Ariana Grande took on the role of Glinda in Wicked, some may have questioned her acting abilities. However, with two Grammy awards under her belt, Grande had already gained considerable screen experience. Her career began on stage with the 2008 Broadway musical 13, and she received acclaim for her portrayal of Cat Valentine in Nickelodeon’s sitcom Victorious and its spin-off series Sam & Cat.
