What happens in the Wicked: For Good trailer?
After the occurrences from the initial Wicked film, the trailer for Wicked: For Good depicts Glinda and Elphaba at odds, as Oz now harbors dislike towards the Wicked Witch of the West. This predicament leaves Glinda in a tricky situation, as she’s increasingly entwined with Oz’s politics while simultaneously remaining loyal to her friend.
Joining Grande, Erivo, and the cast of Wicked: For Good are performers such as Jonathan Bailey playing Fiyero Tigelaar, Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard of Oz, and Bowen Yang portraying Pfannee.
For Good” takes inspiration from the second act of the well-known 2003 stage musical by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman. This musical is a creative interpretation of Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West”, which itself is inspired by L. Frank Baum’s book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”, which was later turned into the famous 1939 movie starring Judy Garland.
Jon M. Chu is back to direct Wicked: The Musical (For Good). Before taking on the Wicked films, Chu previously directed Step Up 2: The Streets (2008), Step Up 3D (2010), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), Jem and the Holograms (2015), Now You See Me 2 (2016), Crazy Rich Asians (2018), and In the Heights (2021).
In the United States, “Wicked” will hit theaters on November 21, 2025, courtesy of Universal Pictures. At present, you can stream it on Peacock.
