Wicked: For Good Trailer at CinemaCon Shows First Look at Dorothy & a Wedding

The first trailer for Wicked: For Good was shown at CinemaCon.

Upcoming Sequel: Good, set to release in November 2024, is the follow-up to the original Wicked. This movie brings to life the second half of the beloved Broadway musical penned by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman. In this continuation, Ariana Grande once again embodies Glinda, while Cynthia Erivo reprises her role as Elphaba Thropp.

At the CinemaCon event held on April 2, 2025, attendees were privileged to view an exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming Wicked: For Good footage. Remarkably, this trailer has not been released online yet, implying that it can only be seen by those who attended the Universal Pictures presentation at CinemaCon.

What happens in the Wicked: For Good CinemaCon trailer?

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s account, the trailer unveils a glimpse of Dorothy, though her face remains hidden, and it showcases golden bricks, a wedding scene, and numerous flying monkeys. In the sequel, the two witches grapple with the repercussions of their past decisions. The footage implies that their strong bond persists beyond what we’ve seen so far, and hints at Glinda issuing a warning.

In the second act of the musical “Wicked,” Fiyero Tigelaar (Jonathan Bailey) and Glinda have a highly visible engagement, but they don’t end up getting married in the end. Meanwhile, Dorothy plays a significant role as many of the story’s events intertwine with those from The Wizard of Oz.

The first poster for Wicked: For Good was also spotted at CinemaCon earlier this week.

Once again, Jon M. Chu is at the helm for “Wicked,” having previously directed the 2018 hit “Crazy Rich Asians” and other films. Alongside Erivo, Grande, and Bailey, the movie’s cast features Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and Bowen Yang as Pfannee.

Wicked: For Good will be released in United States theaters on November 1, 2025.
