As a seasoned gamer and a long-time musical enthusiast who has been eagerly awaiting the home release of the highly anticipated film adaptation of “Wicked”, I can hardly contain my excitement! Having grown up with the original Broadway production, I have always dreamt of immersing myself in the rich world of Oz at my own pace.
Excitedly, I share that Universal Pictures has disclosed the anticipated 4K & Blu-ray release date for “Wicked.” Soon enough, fellow enthusiasts can bring the magical music of this blockbuster film into our personal collections.
When is the Wicked 4K & Blu-ray release date?
On February 4, 2025, Wicked will hit stores in 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats. But if you can’t wait that long, the musical will be accessible for home viewing earlier! Starting December 31, 2024, it will be available exclusively on digital platforms for purchase or rental.

Simultaneously with the movie’s release details, Universal Pictures disclosed a wealth of additional material that will come packaged with the physical copy. This includes a karaoke version of the film, assorted deleted and extended scenes, plus bonus behind-the-scenes footage. - A Wicked Legacy – Take delight in the cast and filmmakers sharing personal memories of their first encounters with the original Broadway production, and how those lasting connections created emotional experiences while making the movie. Also highlighted are the iconic cameos that pay tribute to the cultural phenomenon that became one of the most popular musicals of all time.
- The Wonderful Wizard – Follow the yellow brick road to Emerald City for an in-depth look at the infamous Wizard of Oz. Inside the palace’s throne room, the Wizard himself, Jeff Goldblum, pulls back the curtain to peer at his character’s magic and mechanics with senior special effects technician Christopher Clarke, who details how the Wizard’s massive robotic head comes to life.

Wicked is helmed by Jon M. Chu, with the script penned by the original play’s author, Winnie Holzman. This film adaptation originates from Stephen King’s top-selling book and the award-winning Broadway production.
In this movie, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo take the lead roles, portraying Galinda Upland and Elphaba Thropp respectively. The supporting cast includes Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz, Peter Dinklage as Doctor Dillamond, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, Keala Settle as Miss Coddle, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Bronwyn James as ShenShen, Ethan Slater as Boq, and many more.
The film’s sequel, Wicked: For Good, is currently set for November 21, 2025.
