In 2024, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, the Chief Content Officer at WWE, generated news headlines due to his remarks about wrestling sensation Will Ospreay. Toward the end of 2023, Ospreay found himself in a highly sought-after position as a free agent, with both the WWE and AEW eagerly trying to secure his contract.
In late 2023, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) officially signed Will Ospreay, making the announcement at Full Gear. Previously, Ospreay had not been signed by WWE. In April 2024, Triple H, a prominent figure in WWE, seemed to make a dig at Ospreay. He stated that wrestlers who don’t embrace hard work and dedication have no place in the industry. This comment appeared to be a criticism of wrestlers who are reluctant to commit to WWE’s rigorous schedule.
The Game asserted, “I observe what’s happening around me. I don’t follow the crowd by believing ‘this person claims they are successful, that person claims they are successful.’ I need to witness it… Just because someone achieves success elsewhere doesn’t guarantee they’ll succeed at a larger scale. When I see individuals giving up on trying to make it, and then choosing jobs with fewer responsibilities and less demanding schedules, I think, ‘I’m glad I didn’t choose you.’ If you’re not committed to the grueling work early in your career, at that point, you have no place here.
Many felt that Triple H’s statements were aimed at Will Ospreay. In response, on the April 10 episode of AEW Dynamite, Ospreay retorted, suggesting that Triple H had achieved his high-ranking position in WWE not just through talent, but also because he married Vince McMahon’s daughter, Stephanie McMahon.
On AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay counters Triple H’s remark about avoiding hard work with this statement: ‘The individual who made that comment owes his position to relentlessly working on the boss’s daughter.’

Lately, Will Ospreay voiced his opinion regarding the dispute, clarifying the reasons he thinks Triple H’s remarks were aimed at him.
Will Ospreay breaks silence on Triple H’s controversial remarks
On the Chris Van Vliet podcast, it was revealed that former AEW International Champion Will Ospreay believes trustworthy sources have indicated that Triple H’s remarks were in reference to him.
He indicated, “He was discussing me.” However, he emphasized that he wouldn’t betray anyone by claiming it was about him. In other words, he stated, “I have people whom I won’t abandon, by saying, Yeah, it pertained to me.” Later on, Ospreay made it clear that he doesn’t harbor any animosity towards the individual. He explained, “I don’t dislike the man. I’ve never interacted with him. It’s impossible for me to dislike someone whom I’ve never encountered.” [Credit: sescoops]
It’s WrestleMania weekend, and if you’re here just to drink and complain instead of being fully committed and putting in the hard work, then I’m glad I didn’t associate with you early in your career.” – Triple H (in reference to Will Ospreay who traveled a great distance for the event)

From my gaming perspective, the past hiccups are history now. I’m all about the victory lap as Ospreay thrives in AEW. Meanwhile, Triple H, stepping up as WWE’s Chief Content Officer, is taking the promotion to new heights with his strategic bookings.
