The excitement and anticipation that build up before each match are comparable to the thrill of starting a new gaming level. However, when our star player is sidelined, it’s like encountering a boss level you weren’t prepared for.

It’s worth mentioning that LeBron James was not part of the Los Angeles Lakers roster during their match against the Portland Trail Blazers because of an ailment. Given his crucial role on the team, his absence undoubtedly ignited speculation regarding the gravity of his injury. Initially, the team was vague about the specifics, but this has certainly stirred worries among fans.

Here’s an update on LeBron James’ injury.

What happened to LeBron James?

On Sunday evening, LeBron James didn’t play for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Portland Trail Blazers due to a painful left foot injury. This injury occurred during the Lakers’ loss to the Miami Heat on Wednesday. As a result, he had to sit out his first game of the season. Remarkably, despite feeling uncomfortable, James played an impressive 43 minutes just two nights prior in an overtime defeat to the Atlanta Hawks, scoring 39 points, dishing out 11 assists, and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Going into Sunday’s game, James was initially categorized as questionable. Later, he was moved to probable before being reclassified as questionable once more after a team practice. Lakers coach JJ Redick stated, “Given LeBron’s absence, we’ll have to adjust our strategy; we’ll need to move, cut, and pass more. We’ll also focus on playing in transition. Additionally, overall for our team, it’s crucial to get back to focusing on getting a shot inside the paint on every possession. Earlier in the season, we were doing this effectively but have since veered away from it and need to return to that approach.” (According to ESPN)

Although James’ absence presents a challenge, luckily for the Lakers, they have four days before their next match, which is against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. This extra time off could give the 22-year veteran an opportunity to recuperate and come back to the court well-rested. Meanwhile, Lakers guard Austin Reaves has missed five straight games due to a left pelvic contusion.
