During a heated city council meeting in Huntington Beach, former NFL player Chris Kluwe was taken into custody as he voiced his opposition to a contentious “MAGA” plaque on display at the local public library.
Previously a Minnesota Vikings punter, he is recognized for his vocal activism. He criticized the phrase as a political statement and classified the MAGA movement as extreme. His action, a symbolic step towards the council in “peaceful civil disobedience,” resulted in his arrest.
In his address, Kluwe denounced the symbol MAGA, likening it to a hateful ideology. He stated that MAGA stands for erasing transgender individuals, promoting segregation, racism, censorship, and book bans. He characterized MAGA as a blatantly Nazi-inspired movement. Following his speech, a police officer stepped in, arresting Kluwe at the scene, and escorted him out of the meeting.
