Animal Kingdom Season 5 reveals why Smurf Hates Julia
The TV show TNT’s Animal Kingdom echoes the intensity of family conflicts and complexities found in David Michod’s Animal Kingdom film. However, being a series, it expands upon these elements with additional background information and numerous story threads compared to the initial movie.
A significant aspect of the show revolves around the intricate bond between Smurf and Julia. Tensions arose when Smurf subtly encouraged Julia towards illegal activities. Despite this, Julia firmly opposed the criminal life, leading to a growing divide between her and Smurf.
Over time, I began to sense that Julia was challenging my position with her rebellious actions. Not only was she close with her twin brother, Pope, and adopted sibling, Baz, but their presence also posed a significant threat to my authority and illicit schemes. If Julia managed to draw her brothers away from this world, it could very well dismantle the empire I’ve spent years constructing as its leader.
Additionally, Julia consistently adhered to a robust ethical guide, often finding herself in disagreement with the rest of her family.
In the 12th episode of Animal Kingdom’s sixth season, a flashback scene unfolds, showing that Smurf forcefully evicted Julia from their household following her theft of family funds.
Afterward, Julia turned to substance abuse – both drugs and alcohol – as a means of dealing with her unhappy existence. Unfortunately, this behavior ultimately proved fatal for her. Some speculations suggest that Smurf may have had a more significant influence on Julia’s demise.
