Why Season Two of Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’ is Taking So Long

On Wednesdays, Netflix’s popular TV show Wednesday ranks among its all-time best viewed series, however, the anticipation for Season 2 has lasted quite a while.

In a different take, Jenna Ortega plays the role of Wednesday, the child of the renowned Addams family, in this young adult series. After being kicked out of her school, Wednesday gets admitted to Nevermore Academy and starts solving various mystical puzzles hidden within its walls.

In November 2022, the initial season of Wednesday was unveiled, signifying over two years since we last had a new season.

The main cause for the delay in the television series was the 2023 Writers Guild strike in Hollywood, halting production on numerous prominent TV shows.

As a movie enthusiast penning down my thoughts post-2023, I found myself eagerly awaiting the return of my favorite Netflix series, but fate had other plans. The writers’ strike that ensued from May to September 2023 put a halt on scriptwriting for at least four months, pushing back its release. Despite being high on their priority list, alongside the long-awaited Stranger Things 5, production on our beloved series didn’t commence until May 2024.

Interestingly enough, this captivating tale wasn’t tied to one location for too long. For Season 2, the filming crew packed their bags and moved from the enchanting landscapes of Romania to the emerald shores of Ireland.

Netflix has confirmed Wednesday will be one of its 2025 releases.
