Since Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ trial began in Manhattan Federal Court on May 12, people have been eager to follow along with the court case. Unlike other high-profile trials such as Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard and the O.J. Simpson murder case, the trial of Diddy will not be broadcast or streamed by any media outlet.
Instead, we’ll discuss the reasons why members of the public can’t attend the rapper’s ongoing trial due to the charges he’s facing.
Why Diddy’s trial isn’t being televised or streamed like Depp v Heard
The singer famous for “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down” won’t have his trial broadcasted anywhere due to him facing federal charges. This is because cameras or any recording equipment are not allowed in a federal courtroom, thus preventing media from streaming the court case live.
According to U.S. law, Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 53 limits the use of electronic media in covering criminal trials within federal courts. This rule also prohibits spectators from taking photographs during the trial. However, these practices may be allowed if a court order has been issued prior to the event. This exception applies only when a judge deems it essential for the presentation of evidence or for security reasons.
Despite this, people eager to follow Diddy’s trial can tune into live video coverage of court proceedings from channels like Law&Crime and Court TV. Furthermore, popular YouTubers such as Rotten Mango are said to have attended multiple court sessions. Consequently, they plan to share the trial’s developments with their viewers through their videos.
The most recent development in Diddy’s trial involves Cassie Ventura’s surprising testimony. On the third day of court proceedings, she disclosed various issues that plagued her relationship with the rapper. Among them was a reported incident where Diddy is said to have asked Ventura to get into an inflatable pool filled with baby oil.
