Why Nayanthara regretted being a part of Suriya's Ghajini and called it the ‘worst decision’ of her life; Find out

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for Indian cinema, I must say that Nayanthara‘s journey is nothing short of inspiring. From delivering blockbuster films to openly discussing her regrets and learnings, she embodies the spirit of growth and resilience.

Nayanthara is a major figure in the Indian film industry, boasting a long list of successful movies such as Bigil, Jawan alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Airaa, and many more. When discussing her extensive filmography, it’s hard to overlook her memorable collaborations with Suriya in Ghajini.

Although the audience adored the movie, the actress admitted that picking Ghajini was a regret for her. In fact, she referred to it as one of the biggest mistakes she’s ever made in her career.

In 2015, Nayanthara admitted that taking on the role in Ghajini was the biggest mistake of her life, looking back. The part didn’t turn out as she was promised and she felt poorly captured on camera. However, she can’t complain because she views it all as a valuable learning experience.

Speaking about an actor’s dissatisfaction with their character development in Bigil, director AR Muragadoss explained, “Simply because I personally favor or disfavor a character or individual, it doesn’t mean I can shrink or enlarge a role. On occasion, we have given substantial roles to actors whom we don’t necessarily admire, while those who are favored might receive smaller parts.”

For those unfamiliar, Ghajini was a 2005 film directed by A.R. Murugadoss that gained significant popularity. The chemistry between Suriya and Nayanthara was particularly captivating for audiences. This action-thriller centers around the character Sanjay Ramaswamy, portrayed by Suriya, who has a condition called anterograde amnesia.

The temporary memory loss he experienced stemmed from a head wound he received while attempting to protect his fiancée Kalpana (portrayed by Asin) from a gangster’s attack. The movie Ghajini became a massive success in theaters and was subsequently remade in Hindi, starring Aamir Khan as the main character.

Moving forward, Nayanthara has a few upcoming projects. One of them is “Test,” where she will star alongside R. Madhavan and Siddharth. This film, directed by S. Sashikanth, is expected to hit theaters this year; though an official announcement regarding its release hasn’t been made yet.

Furthermore, you should know that the actress is not only featured in Mannangatti since 1960 alongside Yogi Babu, but also cast in Malayalam film Dear Students, starring Nivin Pauly. This movie, directed by Sandeep Kumar and George Philip, has yet to announce its release date.
