Similar to an engrossing crime thriller, “Animal Kingdom” abounds with intense and raw scenes, yet none are as chilling as J’s cold-blooded murder of Morgan. Created by Jonathan Lisco, this series delves into the criminal exploits led by Janine “Smurf” Cody and her family, the Codys. Throughout the series, Joshua “J” Cody, portrayed by Finn Cole, has shown himself to be a shrewd and relentless player in this game, particularly evident when he took the life of Smurf’s lawyer, Morgan.
So, here’s everything you need to know about why J killed Morgan in Animal Kingdom.
Why does J kill Morgan in Animal Kingdom Season 3?
Joshua “J” Cody killed Morgan Wilson to cover up his theft attempts of Smurf’s properties.
A key turning point in the story occurred when Smurf entrusted her power of attorney to her grandson J at the conclusion of Season 2. This move was prompted by her recognition that Baz had become an unreliable choice, and there was a risk he might bring about further harm.
In the third season, as Smurf finds herself behind bars, I find myself in a tricky position. With Smurf possibly gone for an extended period, I see this as my chance to gain some financial freedom. I decide to seize three of Smurf’s properties, thinking it’ll benefit me. However, my actions don’t go unnoticed for long. Morgan, Smurf’s attorney, picks up on the situation when I attempt to pin the theft on her. Although Smurf does question Morgan about this, she vehemently denies any involvement. Suspicions soon start to fall upon me as Morgan begins to suspect my role in these events.
Recognizing that Morgan posed the sole hindrance to his scheme, J swiftly set about removing her from the equation. He seized her during her ocean swim and transported her far out into the sea. J severed one of her legs and abandoned her, leaving her for what seemed like death, a scene that became one of the most ruthless in the series. The cold-blooded murder of Morgan serves as a chilling reminder of just how deadly J can be. Furthermore, it underscored the fact that J held a crucial pawn in his hand, as he had ambitions to seize Smurf’s criminal empire.
