As a die-hard fan of Yellowstone, I’ve been eagerly waiting for Season 5 Part 2 since its announcement. However, the streaming saga has left me more baffled than John Dutton navigating his ranch’s politics! It seems like every time I turn on my TV or stream service, there’s a new twist in this tale.
The fifth season’s second part of the hit show “Yellowstone” premiered on the Paramount Network on Sunday, 10th November, 2024. This installment marks the conclusion of the series. Despite its popularity on television, viewers have been inquiring as to why they can’t stream it on Paramount Plus. Many are also curious if Paramount Network and Paramount Plus are the same entity.
Here is why Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 can’t be streamed on Paramount+.
Why can’t you watch Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 on Paramount Plus?
Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 is not accessible on Paramount+ because Peacock gained the streaming rights for the show in a contract signed back in early 2020. This arrangement has become quite unfortunate for Paramount Global, as expressed by their CEO Bob Bakish in 2022. It’s worth noting that this deal was made before the merger between Viacom and CBS, an event announced publicly in August 2019. (As reported by Deadline)
Significantly, following the merger, the company adopted the name ViacomCBS initially. However, as of 2022, it simplified its identity to just CBS, also known as Paramount or Paramount Global, the moniker under which it trades.
In simple terms, while Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 isn’t accessible for US viewers on Paramount+, it is available in the UK and Canada on this platform. Previously aired seasons, including Season 5 Part 1, can be streamed on Peacock. However, the latest installment is not offered there either. Instead, viewers in the US can watch the episodes live on Sling TV, Philo, FuboTV, DirecTV Stream, Hulu + Live TV, or YouTube TV, provided they have an active subscription.
Is Paramount Network the same as Paramount Plus?
Indeed, Paramount Network and Paramount+ are not identical. To clarify, Paramount+ represents an in-house streaming platform owned by Paramount Global, a conglomerate that oversees Paramount Media Networks. Interestingly, this same corporation holds the ownership of Paramount Network.
Even though American viewers currently cannot stream Yellowstone on Paramount+, they have access to the spin-offs, 1883 and 1923, on this streaming platform instead.
