In the current installments of “General Hospital”, Laura Wright’s character, Carly Spencer, remains significant. Yet, viewers have pointed out that the actress appears to spend much time seated in recent episodes, leading some to speculate about the reason behind her frequent seating.
Was it because Laura Wright got hurt that Carly Spencer has been spending a lot more time seated in the latest episodes of General Hospital?
Here’s why Laura Wright’s Carly is seen sitting so much in General Hospital
In the latest episodes of General Hospital, Laura Wright’s character, Carly, has been seen sitting more often because she suffered a leg injury away from the set.
During an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Wright revealed that she sustained an injury while engaged in a Pickleball game, specifically during a singles match.
Wright explained, “I attempted to sprint, but made an unusual maneuver with my backhand. Suddenly, my knee dislocated briefly, then popped back into place quickly. It didn’t stay out for long; it simply popped out and back in swiftly.
“Nothing was swollen” according to Wright. However, her leg started feeling “sore.”
After suffering an injury, the 54-year-old soap star explained that it prevented her from enjoying pickleball. However, she mentioned wearing a brace and stated that her problem was mainly with moving side to side, as she remained capable of walking forward, navigating up and down steps, and moving in various directions.
Subsequently, she asserted that the injury caused her “no discomfort whatsoever,” pointing out that she even navigated the steps in the stadium during the Indian Wells tennis tournament.
After going back to work post the tennis tournament, Wright’s knee dislocated once more.
It was a slight twist as I moved my foot to take a step, and that’s when I felt it,” she recounted. “I stumbled, and I exclaimed, ‘Oh my goodness!’ It was incredibly painful.” So, Wright decided to sit out the rest of her scenes.
Despite sporting a brace for her upcoming scenes, Wright unfortunately aggravated her injury during a side movement, necessitating her to shoot and complete three episodes on the following day.
She revealed that they needed to adjust her positioning (for the cameras) because she was feeling very unsettled. She didn’t feel comfortable in her own body, she explained. They told her to simply sit on a stool, so if you’ve ever wondered why for several episodes she was seated on a stool while chatting with everyone in Carly’s kitchen, that’s the reason behind it!
