I can’t help but wonder if Wihan du Toit was let go during Below Deck Down Under Season 3. The tension aboard motor yacht Katina has been palpable, especially with Wihan’s leadership struggles coming to the forefront. From on-deck disputes to questionable workplace conduct, it seems like the Bosun has caused quite a stir throughout this season.
Here’s what’s happened so far—and what might come next.
Does Wihan Du Toit get fired from Below Deck Down Under?
In the thrilling world of gaming, by the 10th episode of Below Deck Down Under Season 3, I’m still on board, but it seems my days might be numbered. Captain Jason Chambers has kept me on edge with his repeated reprimands for subpar leadership, shirking responsibility, and unprofessional behavior.
On the luxury yacht Katina, Wihan, the Bosun, found himself entangled in romantic relationships with several crew members. During the early stages of the season, he expressed his feelings for both the Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph and Marina Marcondes de Barros. Later, while on duty, he confessed his romantic interest to his subordinate Adair Werley, admitting in a letter, “I strive to maintain professionalism at all times, but I can’t deny the feelings I have for you.” Adair, in a private conversation, expressed her feelings by saying, “Wihan doesn’t really seem like my type… Wihan drives a Mini Cooper.
Lara Rigby, the chief stewardess, expressed to Wihan that his team wasn’t following him properly and didn’t seem to hold him in high regard. Harry Van Vliet, a deckhand, then commented, “This isn’t The Bachelor, it’s a yacht,” suggesting that Wihan should create written schedules to prevent misunderstandings. In response, Wihan seemed unimpressed and claimed that their jobs were not as complex as rocketry.
Captain Jason spoke to Wihan regarding an accident with a water-damaged jet ski that had occurred on duty. Even though there were previous advisories from the crew about potential dangers, Wihan refused accountability and shifted the blame instead.
In Episode 10, there was an altercation between Wihan and both Harry and Johnny Arvanitis. After heated discussions, Johnny announced his resignation and exclaimed, “I’ve had enough!” before striking a cabinet and concealing the camera on it. Captain Jason, growing tired of Wihan’s recurring mistakes and crew discord, seems poised to take disciplinary action.
