Here is everything you need to know about the future of Nurse Doris in the drama series.
Is Lorena Diaz’s Nurse Doris leaving Chicago Med?
As of now, it doesn’t seem like Nurse Doris, played by Lorena Diaz, is leaving Chicago Med.
In the 12th episode of Season 10 on Chicago Med, Nurse Doris encountered a tricky predicament. With a fresh batch of medications arriving, Dr. Lenox tasked Nurse Maggie with restocking the Pyxis due to staff shortages. Even though this wasn’t usually her role, Maggie requested that Nurse Doris take charge of the medication distribution system instead.
In the heat of a gaming session, I found myself flipped on my head when I realized that old man Jones hadn’t been given the right amount of morphine. I had to call Doris over to sort this out since she handles medication duties. At first, I was steaming mad at her for giving an adult the dose meant for a kid, but it turned out she’d actually given him an eight-milligram dose.
In due time, Doris came to understand that she had made a grave mistake by administering an adult’s dose to a child. Consequently, the child’s health deteriorated significantly. Doris attempted to express her regret to Lenox, but he flatly refused to listen to any excuses. Maggie pleaded with Lenox to show mercy towards Doris. Nevertheless, Lenox demanded that Maggie terminate Doris’ employment or else he would escalate the matter higher up the chain.
Maggie made it clear to her boss, Lenox, that she would resign if Doris, her beloved nurse, was let go. She emphasized the demanding nature of nursing work, particularly when they’re asked to perform duties beyond their job description, like replenishing the Pyxis supplies. Upon hearing this, Lenox explained his predicament of not being able to afford losing two experienced nurses and mentioned that he would be delivering an update on the emergency department’s status to the board the following week.
As Doris’s job was uncertain, viewers began to sense that her character might be concluded. But, Maggie tactfully navigated through the predicament. The upcoming season 10 of Chicago Med will broadcast on NBC.
