There’s buzz among viewers if actor Jay Hayden might be leaving FBI: International, as his character, Tyler Booth, was given a poignant farewell in a recent episode. Joined in Season 4, Booth crosses paths with his old friend Wes Mitchell during a dangerous mission in Budapest. His assignment was to find an American fugitive hiding in Russia. Throughout the series, Booth proved crucial and now, the current plotline seems to indicate that his journey with the Fly Team may have concluded.
Is Jay Hayden’s Tyler Booth leaving FBI: International?
As of now, it seems that FBI: International has bid adieu to Hayden’s Tyler Booth.
In the most recent installment, titled “Stay Cool and Hand over the Toxin (Biotoxin),” we witnessed the climactic scenes of Booth’s tenure on the show. Pursuing a GS-14 promotion was Booth’s goal, as he envisioned it as a means to move to the U.S. and be near his daughter. Booth was optimistic about getting promoted when the bureau indicated they needed to consult with his superior.
Initially, he assumed they’d converse with FBI Special Agent Wes Mitchell, a confidant who would likely secure his advancement. Unexpectedly, contacts were made with Europol Agent Megan “Smitty” Garret instead, creating a challenging predicament for him because she was aware of his previous law-bending incident. Later on, Tyler engages in conversation with Smitty, who reveals that she must disclose the incriminating details about his background to avoid jeopardizing her position in return.
Despite his efforts to persuade her about moving near his daughter, nothing worked for him. In response, Smitty chooses to step down from her job to distance herself from the issue. However, Wes rejects her resignation. To keep Smitty from leaving, Booth takes a tough decision; he steps down from his post and moves to the US. He gets an emotional send-off from the Fly team. At the same time, Smitty also organizes a meet-up with her daughter back in her hometown.
