Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World? episode 1 recap
In the opening scene, Kai steadfastly declines to free Rinne, who’s shackled up. Surprised by a being from another realm approaching a human for assistance, he ponders over the reason behind humanity’s forgetfulness of him and his realm.
As a gamer, I’d describe it like this: In the latest episode, we’re taken back several hours and meet Kai for the first time as a member of the Human Protection Agency. Our mission: safeguard humanity from demons, spirits, and any other forces that threaten peace. The episode then delves into the five-race war, where humans emerged victorious, all thanks to Prophet Sid. But despite our triumph, we’ve grown complacent, underestimating the other races. Kai, however, is focused on honing his skills and meticulously inspecting graveyards to ensure we’re not ambushed.
One day, while out shopping with Jeanne, Kai suddenly notices the world around them subtly changing. By the time they both notice, however, it’s too late – humans have lost a war and are now hunted by other races in this new reality. As Kai comes to in this unfamiliar world, he is dismayed to find that even his closest companions, including Jeanne and his squad mates, don’t recognize him. In an effort to understand the strange occurrences, Kai visits tombs and stumbles upon Sid’s sword – a relic that mysteriously transports him to yet another unknown location. The episode conclses with Kai encountering Rinne in this new place.
