Why Do People Think the Skibidi Toilet Movie Is Canceled?

As a long-time meme enthusiast who’s seen countless viral sensations come and go, I can confidently say that the anticipation for the Skibidi Toilet movie has been quite the rollercoaster ride! With its initial buzz followed by rumors of cancellation, it seems like this meme-turned-project is as unpredictable as the infamous toilet itself.

A wave of excitement swept through the internet when it was revealed that the Skibidi Toilet would be turned into a film. This viral meme had sparked conversations recently due to its bizarre and graphic imagery. Yet, there’s speculation among social media users if the movie production has been halted.

Speaking of the movie under discussion, it’s inspired by a series of YouTube shorts produced by DaFuq!?Boom!, better known as Alexey Gerasimov. The upcoming project boasts the involvement of Michael Bay, famously known for his work on the Transformers film series. Here’s an update on whether the Skibidi Toilet movie has been shelved or is still in active production.

Is Michael Bay’s live-action Skibidi Toilet movie canceled?

At this moment, the development of the live-action remake for the popular meme Skibidi Toilet has not been terminated; it’s still being worked on.

On the Strictly Business podcast in July 2024, Adam Goodman, previously of Paramount Pictures, announced an exciting development: Skibidi Toilet was slated for both a movie and a TV show adaptation. Remarkably, Michael Bay would helm this project as its director.

According to Variety, Goodman stated that they are currently discussing possibilities, both for television and films. However, these discussions do not represent a final decision or conclusion for them.

According to an article from Rock Paper Shotgun, Garry Newman was issued a DMCA takedown notice regarding games and other materials inspired by Bay’s Invisible Narratives meme. It is said that Valve Corporation, who oversees Garry’s Mod where the Skibidi Toilet creator sourced all assets for these YouTube shorts, also took similar action.

According to a message posted by Newman on his Discord channel, there are unauthorized versions of the game Skibidi Toilet in Garry’s Mod being widely promoted and generating revenue. It is important to note that there is no official Steam, Valve, or Garry’s Mod content associated with Skibidi Toilet. In essence, Newman is warning that these unauthorized assets will be removed.

Even the inventor of Skibidi Toilet, DaFuq!?Boom!, was taken aback by the content of the letter. He posted on Discord, “I didn’t make Garry’s Mod and I’m trying to figure out what else is mentioned in this letter!”

Initially, it seemed like the Skibidi Toilet film might be scrapped due to this news. Later on, Rock Paper Shotgun clarified that a DMCA notice was sent in 2023 by the relevant authorities. Moreover, the disputes between Michael Bay and Garry Newman have now been successfully resolved.
