As a gamer with a knack for wrestling and a soft spot for drama, I must say the ongoing saga between CM Punk and AEW is nothing short of thrilling. It’s like watching a high-stakes match where the stakes keep getting higher, and I can’t look away!
CM Punk, a well-known WWE superstar with connections to AEW, expressed gratitude for their recent decision. In 2021, Punk made his comeback to professional wrestling by aligning with AEW. While fans were ecstatic to see the previous AEW World Champion back in action, this excitement wasn’t universally felt within AEW.
During his initial year, Punk faced some backstage problems with Hangman Page, which led to a palpable tension. At the All Out event, when Hangman Page was away, CM Punk got into a big fight with The Elite, friends of Hangman Page, behind the scenes.
After a nine-month break due to injury, Punk resumed work in the promotion, but encountered trouble this time with up-and-coming talent Jack Perry. A heated backstage argument between CM Punk and Jack Perry at All In eventually led to Punk being fired from the promotion, while Perry received a suspension. Yet, Punk managed to reappear in WWE during Survivor Series WarGames.
In April, after CM Punk’s interview on MMA Hour, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) chose to show clips of the backstage argument between Punk and Perry on their show, Dynamite. This was done to generate excitement for the tag team title fight between FTR and The Young Bucks in AEW Dynasty.
As a passionate fan, I can’t help but notice that the broadcast of the behind-the-scenes squabble undeniably propelled AEW’s viewership numbers. However, it appears that this event may have had a more profound impact on CM Punk. Known for causing quite a stir, both within WWE and in AEW since his release half a year ago, it seems he found the decision to air the footage commendable.
CM Punk reacts to AEW’s decision to air Jack Perry footage
In the heat of my upcoming bout with Drew McIntyre at WWE SummerSlam this weekend, I had a chat on Jimmy Traina’s SI Media podcast. There, I couldn’t help but offer a touch of sarcasm when thanking AEW for setting me up as a top attraction in not just one, but two wrestling promotions by showing certain clips. It’s quite the unusual situation, isn’t it?
He said, “I found it quite unpleasant at first, but then I thought to myself… sharing that video won’t benefit or harm me, so I just didn’t care. It’s incredible to be the main attraction in two separate businesses, thanks everyone.”
As a gamer, I’d say, “It was quite a messy situation, but then I realized that sharing footage wouldn’t benefit them nor harm me. So, whatever happens, it happens. Being part of two leading gaming studios is mind-blowing, can’t wait to see what’s next. Cheers, everyone!”

Alliance of Expert Wrestling (AEW) has struggled to keep viewers engaged due to decreasing attendance and television viewership numbers. On the other hand, popular wrestler CM Punk, who once belonged to AEW, is currently enjoying a comeback in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), creating quite a stir and enthusiasm among fans.
