The long-awaited premiere of Happy Gilmore 2 occurred in New York City just a few days ago, and although it brought together many of the original cast members like Adam Sandler and Bad Bunny, Travis Kelce, who appears in the movie, was conspicuously absent. This has left fans puzzled as to why the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs chose not to attend.
This coming Friday, a sports comedy featuring NFL stars will make its debut on Netflix, marking their significant film acting debut. Prior to this, the actor had a recurring part in the FX horror series, Grotesquerie, portraying the character Ed Laclan.
It seems Travis Kelce missed the premiere of Happy Gilmore 2. Some speculate that his NFL training obligations may have played a role in him not attending. Here’s what we found out.
Travis Kelce skips Happy Gilmore 2 premiere
Travis Kelce couldn’t attend the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere because he was occupied with the Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp preparations for the approaching NFL season.
Even though he wasn’t present, the leading actor of the sports comedy, Adam Sandler, still praised Kansas City Chiefs star player Travis Kelce. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sandler, at 58 years old, described Kelce and Bad Bunny as being “extremely confident” and “hilarious.
In his remarks, Sandler mentioned that they have the freedom to do as they please, but he showed enthusiasm about potentially collaborating with them again. He also revealed a growing fondness for them, stating that he developed a strong friendship with each of them.
As a gaming enthusiast putting myself in Adam Sandler’s shoes, let me tell you, I can’t wait to collaborate with those two again! We really hit it off during our time together, and the friendship we built is something special. Honestly, they are both amazing individuals that I truly admire.

It wasn’t just Kelce who chose to miss the movie premiere; both Justin Thomas and Jack Nicklaus, known for their parts in the sports comedy, were also absent. In the movie, Kelce appears as a hotel worker, sharing a scene with Bad Bunny.
At the movie’s red carpet event, several well-known personalities who weren’t part of the film appeared. These included Jimmy Fallon, John Cena, internet sensation Alix Earle, Sean Evans from Hot Ones, and Steve Buscemi, a frequent collaborator of Sandler in various projects.
Excitingly, I can’t wait for me to dive back into the world of Happy Gilmore with its long-awaited sequel hitting Netflix on July 25, 2025! Joining Adam Sandler, Kelce, and Bad Bunny are some incredible talents like Julie Bowen, Sunny Sandler, Christopher McDonald, and Ben Stiller. This is going to be one unforgettable golfing adventure!
