The popular soap opera, General Hospital, has kept viewers hooked with its intense storylines. Lately, fans were thrilled as one of Heather’s sons, Steven Lars Webber, portrayed by Scott Reeves, reappeared on the scene following a 10-year absence. One might wonder: What led to the return of Steven Webber to General Hospital?

Here is everything you need to about the character’s comeback and upcoming twists in the series.

Scott Reeves’ return as Steven Webber in General Hospital explained

In 2009, Reeves took over the role previously held by Steven Webber. Yet, his experience on the show was marked by a series of highs and lows. His troubles traced back to his infancy when his biological mother, Heather Webber, gave him up for adoption. Later, he found himself in the position of interim hospital director.

Steven’s life has been on a steady decline, largely due to his mother’s troubled past as a criminal. Unfortunately, he found himself drawn into her questionable dealings, including extortion and various illicit activities.

After committing the act of killing a comatose patient to save a child, Steven ended up being imprisoned. Consequently, he lost his medical license and his relationship with Olivia Falconeri, who he intended to marry. This marked the end of Steven’s character in 2013, as he was sent to prison.

After a decade-long hiatus, the former cast member is set to rejoin the series following an invitation from executive producer Frank Valentini. In a chat with Soap Opera Digest, Scott Reeves shared details of his return.

“He was telling me, ‘Steve’s gotten out of jail, he’s been released on parole,’ and when he told me the storyline idea, I couldn’t have been more excited. I said, ‘Oh, my gosh, Frank, this is great! I would love to come do this.’”

According to the most recent episode, Heather is soon to leave prison due to a revelation that her criminal actions were caused by cobalt poisoning post-hip surgery. Meanwhile, Elizabeth discussed with Terry that Steven has moved to Sedona following his release. Yet, he shocked everyone by appearing in Port Charles. It’s intriguing to see how things unfold as Steven and Heather reunite after their freedom, and whether this encounter might lead to more complications.
