Katy Perry, who initiated her Lifetimes tour in Mexico City, has just announced the unexpected cancellation of her shows at Arena Guadalajara, originally scheduled for May 1st and 2nd. This decision comes amidst controversy surrounding Perry’s involvement in the Blue Origin spaceflight mission. Alongside Perry, this mission also included Gayle King, Kerianne Flynn, Amanda Nguyen, Aisha Bowe, and Lauren Sanchez.

Katy Perry cancels show last minute amid backlash
On a Monday update through Instagram Stories, Katy Perry shared that the cancellation of her planned performances at Arena Guadalajara was due to complications with the venue itself.
Unfortunately, it was announced that Arena Guadalajara won’t be finished in time for the performances scheduled next week, including mine on May 1st and 2nd. This is what Perry shared on her Instagram.” (via Billboard)
Later on, Perry shared that her group was dispatched to examine the location as a precaution, in hopes of discovering a solution that would allow her performances to continue. Regrettably, upon their arrival, it was discovered that the venue posed risks not only for her show but also for the safety of the audience.
Katy Perry, the singer behind Roar, conveyed sorrow that the planned shows couldn’t take place and wished if she could somehow rectify the situation. However, she acknowledged that the circumstances were beyond her power to change. Nevertheless, Perry extended her gratitude to her Guadalajara fans and promised them a unique experience in the future.
As a gamer speaking about concerts, I wasn’t the only one who learned that my favorite shows were getting canceled in Guadalajara. Zignia Live, the promoter, shared that both Carlos Rivera and Intocable had to pull out from their scheduled performances at the venue too. Originally, Carlos Rivera was set to perform on April 25, while Intocable was all geared up for April 26.
According to her official site, Perry’s upcoming performances include Mexico City’s Arena CDMX, where her tour began on April 23, as well as shows on April 25th and 26th.
