61-year-old Jack Del Rio stepped down from his position following an arrest on suspicion of drunken driving (DUI) incident early on a Friday morning in Madison, Wisconsin. The alleged event involved him hitting a street sign, damaging a fence, and ending up in someone’s yard. Witnesses reportedly pointed out Del Rio to the police who found signs of impairment on him as he walked away from the scene. According to the authorities, Del Rio acknowledged driving the vehicle and was taken into custody without any reported injuries.

After his arrest, Del Rio expressed appreciation for his time spent with Wisconsin’s football team. He stated, “I am thankful to Coach Fickell and the University of Wisconsin for allowing me to work alongside an exceptional coaching staff and some of the most gifted young football players in America.” Additionally, he declared that he would be stepping down from his position and encouraged the team to concentrate on the remainder of their season.
