With many fans curious about whether former judge Blake Shelton made a comeback, there’s a buzz surrounding his potential return to the show. So, why did Blake Shelton depart from The Voice, and is he part of Season 27?

Here is everything you need to know about the singer’s departure from the musical reality show.

Here’s why Blake Shelton left The Voice

Blake Shelton left The Voice due to personal reasons.

To put it simply, for those who might not know, Shelton was an exceptionally successful coach on The Voice. Out of all the seasons he participated in, a grand total of nine of his trainees went on to win the competition.

After a fulfilling run, Shelton opted to depart from the show following Season 23. In an interview with Access Hollywood, the Dreamer singer revealed that his life took a new direction when he became a stepfather to his wife Gwen Stefani’s three sons. He admitted that taking care of the family is no small task, so he decided to leave The Voice, which demanded considerable time. Shelton went on to mention that devoting himself to the show required a full 150%, but now he has to concentrate on a more pressing responsibility instead.

How did Blake Shelton return in The Voice Season 27?

Blake Shelton returned in The Voice Season 27 through his voice recordings.

During her first appearance as coach, Kelsea Ballerini chose to make light of returning coach Adam Levine. Instead of the usual serious introductions, she played prerecorded clips featuring Blake Shelton good-naturedly teasing Levine. The playful banter included Shelton jokingly calling Levine a “big baby,” and other humorous remarks such as, “Adam, you say a lot of silly things,” “Adam’s a poor coach,” and “Adam, stop talking so much.” This amusing exchange left the audience in fits of laughter. (as reported by NBC)

Even though Shelton didn’t return as a coach, his recordings brought back some delightful nostalgia for the audience.

The Voice Season 27 airs weekly on NBC.
