Why Did Bhad Bhabie Get Sued by Amex?

The well-known rapper and internet sensation, Danielle Peskowitz Bregoli (also known as Bhad Bhabie), is being sued by American Express. Bhad Bhabie gained fame in September 2016 after her appearance on the Dr. Phil show. Since then, she has released numerous singles and one mixtape called “15.” Furthermore, she has built a significant social media presence with a large fan base across various platforms.

What happened to Bhad Bhabie?

It is said that American Express has allegedly taken legal action, filing a lawsuit for $674,452.40 against Bhad Bhabie, due to non-payment of credit card bills in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on July 2. According to court documents filed by the bank, “The Plaintiff provided credit to the Defendant for purchases and/or cash advances using the American Express account XXXX-XXXX-X5000 (the ‘Account’).”

The Defendant agreed to reimburse the Plaintiff for all costs, expenses, and additional charges accumulated on the Account either by settling the entire balance each month or by setting up a monthly payment plan. (via PEOPLE)

According to American Express, they agreed to provide credit to the rapper, Bhad Bhabie, on April 21, 2021. However, since December 2024, she has failed to make any payments. Bhad Bhabie denies these claims, stating, “This isn’t true. Where do they come up with this stuff?” She shared this response with The Shade Room.

Starting in 2016, the rapper gained widespread recognition following her appearance on Dr. Phil’s show. During this event, she famously uttered the phrase “Catch me outside, how ’bout that?”, which quickly spread online and catapulted her to internet stardom. In the year 2017, she debuted her first single, “These Heaux,” earning a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The following single she released, titled “Hi Bich,” was an even greater success, earning a Platinum certification from the RIAA. She has worked with artists such as Lil Yachty on “Gucci Flip Flops,” Ty Dolla Sign on “Trust Me,” and Tory Lanez on “Babyface Savage.
