As an ardent fan of Anushka Shetty, I find her journey to be nothing short of inspiring. Her decision to step back and take some time off after the monumental success of Baahubali showcases not only her strength as an actress but also her commitment to her craft. It’s refreshing to see an artist prioritize their personal well-being over career opportunities, especially in an industry that often demands constant work.
Today, we’re rewinding to a moment when Anushka Shetty talked about her decision to avoid more wide-ranging Indian films following the blockbuster success of Baahubali, starring Prabhas. In an interview with The Indian Express, she elaborated on why she didn’t leverage the film’s triumph. Anushka disclosed that she quickly started working on Bhaagamathie right after finishing the SS Rajamouli production.
She explained, “After completing Baahubali, I had a commitment to Bhaagamathie next, and then I desired some personal time. This was entirely my choice, something essential for me at that moment. At the time, I felt it was necessary for my upcoming projects, so I could be fully present. It might seem unusual.
Anushka Shetty expressed that she desired a brief hiatus from acting, choosing instead to ignore all script offers. Yet, she added, if an intriguing opportunity presented itself, she wouldn’t have hesitated to accept it.
In the movie featuring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty portrayed the character of Devasena, who was Baahubali’s wife. Her acting drew positive responses from cinema enthusiasts nationwide.
Following the triumph of Baahubali, Anushka appeared in local movies such as Bhaagamathie and Nishabdham. After 2020, she took a break from acting and made her comeback three years later with Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty.
Regarding the film, the actress disclosed that Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty was the initial project she embarked on after her hiatus. She shared that she received the script in 2019 when the Covid pandemic occurred. Yet, once the lockdown ended, she began filming for the movie alongside her co-star Naveen Polishetty.
In the film, Anushka takes on the part of a woman who identifies as a feminist, choosing to live single for her entire life. Naveen plays a character yearning for a committed relationship. Despite their contrasting desires, they encounter each other and form an immediate connection. For those yet to see this movie, it’s available for streaming on Netflix.
