In 1999, she married John Black and since then, viewers have followed her through her journey of grieving his loss. Is Deidre Hall’s Marlena Evans leaving Days of Our Lives again?
There haven’t been any verified reports or confirmation from Hall that she’s departing from Days of Our Lives. Therefore, it appears the speculations might be unfounded.
The recent events surrounding John Black’s character have sparked numerous rumors. To clarify for those who may not be aware, John embarked on a classified ISA mission in Estonia, only to vanish afterward. Subsequently, Steve and Marlena tirelessly searched for him, but to no avail. Eventually, the ISA located John and brought him back. He made his return last month, with his face hidden by the camera, assisting Steve with a groundbreaking drug aimed at curing Bo’s sepsis. Tragically, the lab where these events unfolded was destroyed, resulting in John sustaining severe injuries that ultimately led to his passing.
In fact, Drake Hogestyn, the actor who played John Black, sadly passed away in September 2024 after a fight against pancreatic cancer. Since then, fans have speculated that Hall’s Evans might retire or be written off the show soon, but these rumors remain unconfirmed.
Significantly, Marlena, played by Hall, had taken a short break from the series back then due to financial reasons. In 2009, both her character and Drake Hogestyn’s Black were written off as a cost-cutting move by the network. The narrative explained their departure by having them leave town to seek medical attention for Black’s injuries. However, this was a temporary exit, and the on-screen couple returned to the show in 2011.
