Despite not being mentioned in the latest Avengers: Doomsday cast list, it’s possible that Chris Pratt’s character, Star-Lord, might make an appearance in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film.
On March 26, 2025, Marvel Studios disclosed a roster of 27 actors set to feature in the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday,” scheduled for release in U.S. cinemas next year. Surprisingly, Chris Pratt’s name was not among them. Since his debut as Star-Lord in “Guardians of the Galaxy” back in 2014, Pratt has been a recurring character in various Marvel productions, including two sequels to “Guardians of the Galaxy,” 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War,” 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” and 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder.
Why wasn’t Chris Pratt included in the Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement?
As per Jeff Sneider’s report in The InSneider, Chris Pratt was not included in the cast for Avengers: Doomsday because he is currently working on the second season of The Terminal List for Amazon Prime Video.
In the show titled “The Terminal List,” Chris Pratt portrays the character of James Reece, derived from Jack Carr’s 2018 novel bearing the same name. The first season made its debut in July 2022, but as of now, a release date for Season 2 remains undisclosed. Besides Pratt, Constance Wu, Taylor Kitsch, and Riley Keough are also part of the series’ ensemble cast.
If the Russos manage to film him towards the final stages, there’s a chance he could still contribute – it all hinges on several variables, Sneider noted. Yet, should Marvel need to move forward without him, they are fully equipped to handle it.
It’s important to mention that none of the actors from the Guardians of the Galaxy team were revealed as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast. However, Peter, who was once with the Guardians, appointed Rocket as their new leader, returned to Earth at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, suggesting that his character may not need the other Guardians for his role in the movie.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in United States theaters on May 1, 2026.
