Who got eliminated and went home on American Idol tonight on May 11?

During the 23rd season’s episode on May 11th, American Idol bid farewell to contestants Gabby Samone and Mattie Pruitt. The elimination took place following the conclusion of Disney Night 1, a special night filled with performances that paid homage to beloved Disney tunes and Mother’s Day dedications.

Gabby belted out “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana and “Home” from The Wiz, while Mattie showcased “Remember Me” from Coco and a tune by Lauren Alaina titled “Those Kind of Women”. Following the show, viewers cast their votes, which ultimately decided who was to be eliminated. As USA Today reported, “the public vote for the Top 5 resulted in the dismissal of two contestants”. At the end of the broadcast, ABC revealed the Top 5 contenders.

Five contestants made it through the initial phase of the two-evening Disney Night spectacle. Each of the remaining artists sang a Disney tune and a heartfelt tribute for Mother’s Day. The guest mentor, Lin-Manuel Miranda, offered guidance on their Disney song choices.

At the performance, Thunderstorm Artis played “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas and unveiled his personal composition titled “Out of the Blue,” which was dedicated to his spouse Faith. Slater Nalley showcased “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” along with Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.” Jamal Roberts performed both “Go the Distance” and “A Change Is Gonna Come,” while Breanna Nix opted for “Reflection” and her own selection “Like My Mother Does.” Lastly, John Foster sang “Almost There” and “Believe.
