Who was the man in Daemon's vision in House of the Dragon?

As a gamer with a heart for both fantasy and history, I must say that the revelation of Brynden Rivers in House of the Dragon was nothing short of mind-blowing! I remember the thrill of discovering his character in Game of Thrones, and now seeing him again, albeit in a different form, is an absolute treat.

Upon viewing the final episode of House of the Dragon Season 2, I initially believed that a figure resembling Aegon the Conqueror appeared in Daemon’s vision. However, upon further reflection, it was not him but a character significantly related to the White Walkers instead.

In the sequence that followed, Daemon’s psychic abilities allowed us a glimpse into some forthcoming events. We witnessed his demise, the downfall of a dragon, and Daenerys Targaryen. Additionally, we spotted an individual with a distinctive portwine stain birthmark on his face, who appeared to be perched in a tree. This character turned out to be the Three-Eyed Raven, whom we’ve encountered before in Game of Thrones.

Daemon saw Brynden Rivers in House of the Dragon

The story begins with Brynden Rivers, a bastard child born to King Aegon IV Targaryen by his sixth mistress, Lady Melissa Blackwood. Later recognized by his father, Brynden served as Hand of the King for both Kings Aerys I and Maekar I Targaryen. Unfortunately, he was later exiled to the Night’s Watch, eventually rising through the ranks to become Lord Commander.

Because of the deep-red birthmark resembling a raven on his face, he became widely recognized as Lord Ravencrimson. This distinctive mark was also said to depict a raven.

He has a connection to Daemon through his sword. Brynden carried Dark Sister!

Initially, Bryden ventured north of the Wall on a ranger expedition, which was where he disappeared. However, it’s now clear that Bryden didn’t simply vanish. Later, Bran Stark discovers that Brynden is not dead but alive. In fact, he has become the Three-Eyed Raven and resides with the Children of the Forest. Unfortunately, we don’t learn how this transformation took place.

It’s often claimed that Brynden shared prophetic dreams about the Targaryens with Duncan the Tall, even before Aegon’s conquest. Now, we find out that Helaena has similar visions. Could it be that Brynden possessed these abilities as well, and he used them in a unique way that no one else had achieved before him?
