Who to give the Orthodox icon to: Mityay or Pomor – Stalker 2

As a seasoned Stalker player with over a thousand hours under my belt, I can confidently say that the choice between Mityay and Pomor for the Orthodox icon is one that will leave a lasting impact on your journey through the Zone.

In Stalker 2, you’ll encounter situations where difficult decisions must be made, and one early choice involves determining the recipient of an Orthodox icon: Mityay or Pomor. Both individuals express interest in acquiring the painting, offering distinct rewards for their possession.

Who to give the Orthodox icon to: Mityay or Pomor

Following a conversation with Mityay, you’ll receive a task named “The Poppy Field”. The objective is to locate an Orthodox icon within this field. Upon arrival at the Poppy Field, you’ll meet Pomor who desires to keep the icon. This presents a dilemma regarding whom to hand over the icon. Here are the incentives associated with completing the quest:

  • Mityay will give you 1,000 coupons if you bring the picture back to him
  • Pomor will give you a nearly broken AR416 if you give him the Orthodox icon instead

Who you give the Orthodox icon to will come down to personal preference. Depending how early on in the game you are, it might be worth having the Unknown Stalker’s AR416 as it might be the first weapon you find that uses 5.56×45 rounds. However, it only has 10 percent durability, meaning it is likely to break very quickly.

On the contrary, having an additional 1,000 coupons (K) could enable you to purchase a few extra ammo rounds for your existing weapons or even repair a cherished item. It’s also beneficial for enhancing your equipment. Furthermore, Mityay deeply values the painting as a memory of his family – would you feel comfortable giving it away?

Where to find the Orthodox icon

As a gamer, I couldn’t collect my reward without first finding the Orthodox icon hidden in a root cellar on the western side of the field. I had two options: either pay Pomor for the information about its location or explore the field, gather supplies from the bodies there, and then return to share them with Pomor. The third option was to consult my map and locate the icon’s position on it, which would lead me to a hole in the ground. After descending the ladder, I would find the portrait waiting for me on a shelf.

It’s entirely your decision whether you hand over the Orthodox icon to either Mityay or Pomor. Both choices are appealing, but I’ve found myself leaning towards Mityay due to the additional 1,000K being more valuable to me at an early stage in the game compared to a seemingly faulty gun.
