In the fourth season, which premiered on Hulu and featured the return of The Bear, the finale delivered another awe-inspiring, nerve-wracking conclusion. However, it’s with regret that I share some unfortunate news: one of the main characters in the group is no longer with us.
Spectators are already pondering significant queries concerning whether Carmy might depart from the series. If it’s not him, then which character could possibly leave The Bear?
Does Carmy or Sydney leave the Restaurant in The Bear Season 4’s ending?
Following a challenging period where it appeared Carmy had completely stumbled, he and Sydney eventually shared an open discussion at the culmination of their fourth season. In the ninth episode, Sydney discovered her revised business arrangement with the restaurant, finding that in the updated contract, ownership was now equally distributed between Cicero and The Bear. However, The Bear had included Sydney and Sugar, but not Carmy.
In a direct conversation, Sydney brought up the topic of their agreement with Carmy, who disclosed his intention to depart from the restaurant. However, he’s not planning an immediate departure but intends to retire once they sort out the Bear’s financial matters. Before leaving, he wants to ensure the restaurant remains steady and secure.
Why does Carmy decide to retire from The Bear restaurant?
Carmy departed due to his brother Mikey (Jon Bernthal), who tragically took his own life. In an explanation, it was revealed that Carmy turned to cooking and establishing The Bear restaurant as a means to steer clear of certain aspects of his past. This largely revolved around the untimely death of Mikey, which Carmy chose not to confront directly.
He too acknowledged that his own actions contributed to The Bear’s collapse, despite being the one who constructed it from the ground up. His constant worry and inability to make decisive choices have greatly affected the restaurant. Thus, Carmy urged Sydney to continue working at the restaurant, as he felt she was better equipped to lead than him. In the episode, Carmy says to Sydney, “I have more faith in you than I’ve ever had in myself. You’re The Bear,” emphasizing his belief in her abilities.
In other words, The Bear’s fourth season hints at Carmy eventually departing, although this isn’t imminent. Additionally, it appears that The Bear still has a lot of issues to tackle. Future seasons might explore the ongoing financial struggles and their eventual resolution in more depth.
The Bear season 4 is now streaming on Hulu.
