Who Killed Colter’s Father Ashton Shaw in Tracker Season 2’s Finale?

Ever wondered who truly pulled the trigger on Ashton Shaw, my dad, in the finale of Tracker Season 2? After years of suspicion, hidden family mysteries, and a gut-wrenching betrayal buried deep within our household, I, Colter Shaw, finally unveiled the truth about my father’s demise. As former confidants reappear and secret ties come to light, I realized that the solution had been lurking much closer than I ever dared to imagine.

Here’s who was behind Ashton’s murder — and why it changes everything.

Who killed Colter’s father Ashton Shaw in Tracker Season 2’s ending?

In the 20th episode of Tracker’s second season, titled “Echo Ridge”, it is revealed that Otto Waldron, the uncle of Carl Murphy, was responsible for the death of Colter Shaw’s father, Ashton Shaw.

In response to Colter’s inquiry about Otto being in the woods the night Ashton died, he simply says, “Yes.” When probed further if he pushed Ashton off a cliff, he admits, “I did.” He then qualifies his actions by saying, “However, that’s not what you’re here to discuss, is it? The accident…” Otto later clarifies that he wasn’t employed by the government but was acting on someone else’s instructions, stating, “Someone asked for my assistance.” When Colter presses for the identity of this person, Otto reveals, “Your mother.

It’s unveiled later on that Mary Dove Shaw, Colter’s mom, orchestrated the death of Ashton Shaw by requesting Otto to do it. Throughout the episode, Colter delves into clues about his father’s enigmatic past, such as a phone number in Ashton’s journal which guided him to David Pearson, a scientist who died under suspicious circumstances and was rumored to have government connections. Pearson took his own life in 2003, the same year Ashton passed away.

While investigating Bill’s disappearance and a suspected child trafficking case, Colter discovers one of Ashton’s wooden carvings at Carl Murphy’s trailer. Later, Colter makes Murphy confess about the origin of the carving, which leads him to Murphy’s uncle. The complete truth behind Ashton’s death is ultimately unveiled at Otto Waldron’s residence.

In the episode earlier today, my brother Russell had clarified that he wasn’t the one who pushed our father off the cliff; instead, he mentioned seeing another man in the woods. This revelation aligns with what Otto later confessed. Interestingly, this discovery was made despite Mary Dove Shaw urging me to halt my investigation, saying “Whatever happened to Dad has no connection to our family.” Now, it seems Otto’s statement points towards her complicity in the matter.

Thus, although Otto physically killed Ashton Shaw, he did so at Mary Dove Shaw’s request.
