Who is Rima Kallingal? Know all about actor who filed a defamation suit against singer Suchitra over drug party allegations

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I admire the resilience and courage displayed by Rima Kallingal, a Malayalam actress who has made significant strides in the film industry. Her recent encounter with baseless allegations from Tamil singer Suchitra is a testament to her strength and unwavering commitment to justice.

In response to accusations made by Tamil singer Suchitra, who claimed that Rima Kallingal, co-founder of Actor and Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), hosted drug-filled parties, Rima strongly denied these allegations and took a firm stand against her. She further chose to file a defamation lawsuit against the singer for making such harmful statements about her.

If you’re not familiar, Rima Kallingal is a well-known actress from Malayalam cinema who first appeared on screen with the movie “Ritu” in 2009. However, she truly captured the attention of many with her exceptional performance in the 2012 film “22 Female Kottayam.”

Rima has been featured in many prestigious films throughout her professional journey. Besides acting, she’s explored other avenues such as television hosting and even started a dance school called Mamangam in Kochi. Additionally, she co-founded the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), an initiative aimed at tackling challenges faced by women within the film industry.

Lately, singer Suchitra made accusations against Rima, but Rima refuted these charges, deeming them as groundless and lacking evidence. Furthermore, she extended her appreciation to those who stayed loyal to her amidst this difficult period.

She recently posted on her Instagram, “For quite some time, numerous individuals have been backing the WCC and its mission. It is this unity and faith that leads me to address you today. Over the last two days, various media sources have disseminated statements from Tamil singer Suchitra in an interview with a YouTube channel.”

In the 30-minute discussion, she not only publicly accused a 2017 sexual assault survivor, suggesting that the survivor was aware of the incident, and blamed them for it. Additionally, she implicated CM Pinarayi, Mohanlal, Mammootty, and the Hema Committee in a conspiracy to undermine actors like Fahadh’s careers.

In the midst of all the dispute, filmmaker Aashiq Abu publicly backed Rima. During an interview with Manorama News, Aashiq disclosed that he has faced trouble from people linked to drug abuse within the movie business. He also suggested that his opposition to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) of 2019 has led to these accusations against him intensifying. “Ever since then, I’ve been accused by the Sangh Parivar of managing the Mattancherry mafia. Rima and I have been dealing with such allegations ever since,” Aashiq stated.
