As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the arts, I find myself both saddened and perplexed by the recent events surrounding the talented actor Vinayakan. His career, marked by numerous accolades and captivating performances, has been marred by a series of controversies that have left many questioning his judgment.
Warning: This article discusses the sensitive topic of sexual assault, which could potentially be distressing for certain individuals.
Surprisingly, the popular actor Vinayakan, known for his role in Rajinikanth’s Jailer, was taken into custody at Hyderabad airport under accusations of mistreating staff members. This incident unfolded during Vinayakan’s journey from Kochi to Goa at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
According to various sources, it’s been stated that Vinayakan was under the influence of alcohol during a disagreement with airport staff. This piece will delve into who exactly Vinayakan is.
Who is Vinayakan?
Vinayakan is an Indian artist, previously a dancer and musician, who has gained recognition mainly for his work in the Tamil and Malayalam entertainment sectors. Known as an actor, he started his journey in the cinema industry way back in 1995. In the movie Maanthrikam, Vinayakan takes on a guest appearance.
I’m honored to share that I was bestowed with the esteemed Kerala State Film Award, recognizing my performance as Best Actor for my leading role in the 2016 film Kammatipaadam. Interestingly, this was also my debut as a music composer for the same film.
Apart from that, he is responsible for the music composition on the main theme of Trance (2020). Notably, Vinayakan has lent his voice to songs featured in Rafi’s movie Role Models as well as in Sugeeth’s debut film, Ordinary, which was released in 2012.
Vinayakan is recognized for his roles in movies such as Aadu – Oru Bheegara Jeevi Aanu and its sequel Aadu 2, Stop Violence, Vellithira, Chathikkatha Chanthu, Chotta Mumbai, Thottappan, and numerous others. Noteworthy is that the actor has also appeared in some Hindi films of Bollywood.
In the movie “Ee. Ma. Yai,” Vinayakan’s portrayal of Ayyappan, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, gained him widespread acclaim and admiration for his outstanding acting skills. More recently, Vinayakan captivated audiences as he starred alongside megastar Rajinikanth in the hit film “Jailer.” In the 2023 production, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Vinayakan took on the role of Varman.
Vinayakan’s controversies
In a rather unexpected turn of events, I found myself in a sticky situation at the Hyderabad airport recently. It seems there was an altercation with the staff members, leading to quite a commotion that required intervention from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). As a result, I was promptly taken into custody for further investigation.
Following this, the CISF transferred him to the airport’s law enforcement authorities. According to Onmanorama’s report, Vinayakan was freed on bail following his inappropriate behavior incident. He subsequently shared with the press that he had been physically attacked by CISF officers. “I don’t understand why I’m being detained,” said Vinayakan. “I have not done anything wrong. The security camera footage can be reviewed for proof.
On another occasion, Vinayakan has found himself embroiled in controversy as well. In 2023, he was detained for causing a disturbance at the Ernakulam police station. This incident occurred when Vinayakan visited the station to handle a personal matter, but matters took a turn for the worse after the actor reportedly became agitated, allegedly due to being under the influence of alcohol.
In that very same year, the actor portraying a jailer found himself in hot water due to his controversial comments about the death of the former Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy.
Additionally, during a press conference for the film Oruthee in 2022, Vinayakan stirred up controversy when he expressed opinions about the #MeToo movement. He suggested that if making sexual advances is considered under the umbrella of #MeToo, then he too has been guilty of such actions. However, after facing strong criticism from online users, he offered an apology for his remarks.
