Who is Molly Miller?
Molly Miller is the head coach of the Grand Canyon University women’s basketball team. She has held the position since the 2020-21 season after previously serving as the head coach at Drury University. Miller played college basketball at Drury, where she ranks among the program’s all-time leaders in scoring, assists, and steals.
Miller led Grand Canyon to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in the 2024-25 season with a 65-62 win over UT-Arlington in the WAC Tournament Championship. The Lopes finished 32-2 overall and 16-0 in conference play. Grand Canyon earned a No. 13 seed and prepared to face No. 4 seed Baylor in the first round.
Miller began her coaching career at Drury University as an assistant for two seasons before becoming head coach in 2014. She compiled a 180-17 record at Drury, leading the team to a 32-0 season in 2019-20. The NCAA canceled that year’s Division II Tournament due to COVID-19. The WBCA named her Division II National Coach of the Year twice.
As a player, Miller started all four years at Drury, scoring 1,570 career points and earning a spot in the school’s Hall of Fame in 2007. She played high school basketball at Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri, winning two state championships. Before moving into coaching, she worked for four years as a marketing director at the Springfield Neurological and Spine Institute.
Miller, along with her spouse Derek Miller, is blessed with two kids named Crosby June and Cy Carter. She has successfully led Grand Canyon University to numerous appearances at the WAC Tournament Championship, further solidifying her reputation as one of the most promising up-and-coming coaches in women’s college basketball.
