In simple terms, Byrdie is a freshly crafted character introduced by Marvel Studios specifically for Season 3 of What If…?. Previously, another original character named Kahhori was unveiled during Season 2.

In Season 3 of What If…?, Byrdie is portrayed as a character who’s half-human, half-Duckworldian. This unique character is said to be the daughter of an altered version of Dr. Darcy Lewis and Howard the Duck from another reality. In one of the first season’s episodes, “What If… Thor Were an Only Child?”, an intoxicated version of these two characters got married in a drunken ceremony.

In the lore, it was whispered that Byrdie carried immense celestial powers within her, much like an egg. This made her a prized asset to several influential groups such as the Olympians, Ravagers, Zealots, Dark Elves, and the Black Order under Thanos’ command. To protect her from these powerful factions, her parents were forced to flee with her.
