Who is Kurt Iswarienko?
As a fellow gamer and photography enthusiast, I find Kurt Iswarienko’s story incredibly inspiring. His journey from being an electrician for Hollywood productions to becoming a renowned photographer and collaborating with top celebrities and brands is nothing short of amazing.
Shannen Doherty’s ex-husband, Kurt Iswarienko, is not just known for his marriage to the actress, but also for his skills as a photographer. He has worked with many prominent figures in the entertainment industry including Ryan Gosling, Chris Pine, and Kumail Nanjiani.
I am deeply impressed by Iswarienko’s diverse and rich body of work. Not only has he excelled in still photography, but he has also made a name for himself in the world of promotional videos for renowned beauty brands like Estée Lauder and Chanel. His ability to capture stunning visuals that effectively sell products is truly commendable.
Career
In the early stages of his career, Kurt worked as an electrician on Hollywood film sets. He was part of the camera and electrical crew for the comedy-drama “Going All The Way,” directed by Mark Pellington and released in 1997.
Following that, Kurt Iswarienko took on the role of chief electrician for the filming of “Riding with James Dean” in 1998. Simultaneously, he contributed to the production of notable movies such as “Clockstoppers,” “Pumpkin,” and “Outside Ozona.”
As a gamer, I could say: Getting a job as an electrician on the thrilling set of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl was a major break for me.
Furthermore, in the very same year, he delved into film production by funding the horror flick “Puppet Master: The Legacy,” where he also contributed as the cinematographer. In 2007, he took on the role of cinematographer for a short film titled “Prenuptial Tango.”
In addition, he assumed the position of executive producer for the show “Shannen Says” in the year 2012. During this time, he also made an appearance as himself in the program. Subsequently, he was a guest on the popular talk show, “Big Morning Buzz Live.”
Towards the latter part of his career, Kurt Iswarienko chose to devote more time and effort to improving his photography techniques. Consequently, he earned acclaim for his artistic and inventive approach to capturing images.
I was fortunate enough to work alongside famous celebrities and recognized brands, venturing to different parts of the world to shoot my subjects – ranging from well-known faces to intriguing individuals not yet in the limelight. Additionally, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with major brands like Uniqlo and Netflix, contributing to their successful global marketing efforts.
Marriage & Divorce
In October 2011, Shannen Doherty got married to Kurt Iswarienko in Malibu, California. Doherty wore a white ballgown for the occasion, marking her third trip down the aisle. Previously, she had been married to Ashley Hamilton from 1993 to 1994 and Rick Salomon from 2002 to 2003.
Doherty and Iswarienko’s wedding was highlighted on the WE TV reality series “Shannen Says.” The program documented the duo as they collaborated with celebrated wedding designer David Tutera to bring their dream wedding to life.
In one episode of the series, Doherty expressed uncertainty about her relationship with the photographer following his unexpected absence for work. Another episode highlighted Iswarienko’s quest to find an ideal gift for his spouse. The eight-episode production ended in May 2012.
In 2015, Shannen Doherty learned she had breast cancer. This news drew her even closer to her husband, Kurt Iswarienko. Though she longed to break the news to him in person, an unexpected turn of events led her to call him instead. Upon arriving home, she was surprised to find him already there, waiting for her in their driveway.
“Despite our marriage being robust to begin with, it has become even more unbreakable as a result. I couldn’t have survived this ordeal without the support of my loving husband.”
In April 2023, Doherty began the divorce proceedings against Iswarienko due to “unresolvable issues.” The pair had gone their separate ways in January. Doherty asked for financial support from Iswarienko yet simultaneously requested that he be denied this request.
In July 2024, Kurt Iswarienko’s former spouse passed away after a long-term fight with breast cancer which had recurred in 2020 following an initial remission from 2017 to 2019.
