Taylor, born on May 24, 1981, is an Australian native from Melbourne, Victoria. Her educational journey led her through Upwey High School, and she later secured a scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). Subsequently, Taylor began playing basketball for the AIS in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL). In the following season, she clinched the WNBL championship.

Additionally, she represented Dandenong Rangers in the league during the 2000-01 season, where she excelled with an average of 25.5 points and 2.5 steals per game. Later, Taylor re-joined the team in the 2014-15 WNBL campaign.
