In an exciting beginning, Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8, led by Vijay Sethupathi, has commenced with high energy, featuring intense interactions and emotional outbursts among the housemates. This week promises a fresh competition, as Dharsha steps forward to tackle it bravely for the female participants.
But who is Dharsha Gupta? Let’s explore the actress’s filmography over the years.
Who is Dharsha Gupta of Bigg Boss Season 8?
Dharsha Gupta is a familiar figure within the Tamil entertainment world, best known for her contributions to daily soaps and reality programs. Her initial breakthrough on television came with her debut in the Star Vijay series Avalum Naanum; however, she was subsequently replaced by Suji Vasan in that role.
Dharsha steadily advanced in her career, starring as a key figure in the widely-watched Tamil TV program Mullum Malarum, which was broadcast on Zee Tamil between 2017 and 2019. In this series, she depicted the romantic interest of the lead character, embodied by Munish Raja. Over time, her small screen performances opened doors for her to step into Tamil film industry.
Later, Dharsha took a significant part in the TV series Senthoora Poove (now starring Sushma Nair), which is broadcast on Star Vijay. Notably, the series also features Ranjith, a participant from Bigg Boss 8, as its main character.
Although she had been a part of various shows throughout the years, it was ultimately Cooku with Comali Season 2 on Vijay TV that catapulted her into stardom. Her involvement in this show significantly contributed to her rise in fame and success within the entertainment industry, culminating in her first Tamil film role.
Due to the hit reality show she was on, the actress received an offer from director Mohan G. for the movie “Rudra Thandavam”. This action-thriller film has Richard Rishi, Shalini Ajith Kumar’s brother, in the main role. Dharsha plays his wife in the film.
The 2021 film served as the actress’s first major cinematic appearance, but it received unfavorable criticism. Notably, it starred Gautham Vasudev Menon, Radha Ravi, Thambi Ramaiah, YG Mahendran, and several others in significant roles.
In addition, Dharsha was frequently featured across numerous TV programs, either as a competitor or invited guest, including Comedy Raja Kalakkal Rani, Super Singer 8, KPY Comedy Thiruvizha, among others.
In 2022, I had the pleasure of being part of a movie titled “Oh My Ghost,” a Tamil horror comedy. This production starred Sunny Leone in the leading role and was skillfully directed by R Yuvan. Alongside Sunny, actor-comedian Sathish and Dharsha also graced the screen as co-leads in this exciting project.
During the unveiling of the film’s soundtrack, a disagreement erupted when Sathish made comments likening Dharsha’s contemporary attire to Sunny Leone’s traditional sari. Critics deemed these remarks as sexist, sparking public outrage. In response, Sathish shifted blame onto Dharsha, asserting that she had instigated his statements. However, Dharsha promptly denied his accusations, labeling them as untrue and defending herself.
After appearing as a guest on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Seniors 4, Dharsha is currently one of the main contenders in Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8, which is hosted by Vijay Sethupathi. The program has depicted her as a formidable competitor. At present, the remaining 17 contestants are eagerly waiting for the outcome of this week’s nominations.
Furthermore, a sneak peek at Day 8 on Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8 unveiled an intriguing new competition, featuring Dharsha and Deepak. The task entails housemates exploring each other’s designated living spaces, and their reactions could significantly impact the contest.
