In early 2015, they encountered each other at a radio function in Texas. They bonded and became friends first. Later, in August 2018, Lane extended an invitation for Bushnell to join him on a trip with his group of friends. As Bushnell shared with PEOPLE, she accepted the offer. Throughout the vacation, Lane expressed his future plans, such as staying single and not wanting children.
