Who Is Ava Raine? All About Dwayne Johnson’s Daughter

As a huge fan of professional wrestling and someone who closely follows the industry, I am absolutely thrilled to witness the meteoric rise of Ava Raine within WWE. Born into a legendary wrestling family, with her father being the iconic Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and her grandfather being the renowned Rocky Johnson, it’s no surprise that she chose this path for herself.

Ava Raine, born in America, works for WWE under the ring name Ava. In her role, she manages NXT’s on-screen operations, making history as the youngest person ever appointed to this position within the company. Her lineage is deeply rooted in wrestling: Daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and a member of the esteemed Anoa’i family from Samoa.

Education

During the Golden Globes’ 75th anniversary celebration in January 2018, Ava Raine represented the event as its ambassador. She graduated from NSU University School, a private institution, with her high school diploma in May 2019.

Originally, Ava planned to start college at New York University in August 2019 after graduating. But a knee injury in July forced her to alter her plans and remain in Orlando, Florida to pursue her dream of wrestling professionally instead. Her grandmother is the one who inspired her love for the sport.

Wrestling Career

Back in November 2017, Ava expressed her ambition to enter the professional wrestling scene. Later in February 2020, WWE announced that she had formally become a part of their Performance Center and commenced her training. This made Ava the first family member from four generations to be a pro wrestler and one of the youngest individuals to sign with WWE.

On October 25, 2022, NXT featured Johnson’s TV introduction as a member of Joe Gacy’s opposing faction, Schism. Debuting under the name Ava Raine, she later adopted the simpler moniker of just Ava, effective from February 14, 2023.

At Stand & Deliver on April 1, Ava Raine made her debut in the wrestling ring alongside Schism, but they were defeated by Chase University. Later in September 2023, Schism began to fall apart. The process started with the expiration of The Dyad’s contracts on the 14th, and was finalized when Gacy announced in a backstage interview that Schism no longer existed.

After the Schism event, she was given the role of Michaels’ on-screen assistant, working closely with Shawn Michaels, who is the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative. Her duties involve acting as a go-between for Michaels and the talents, in addition to making announcements on his behalf.

Starting from January 23, 2024, Ava took over as the youngest General Manager in WWE’s history at NXT. Just three days after, she made her debut on SmackDown’s main roster. During that show, she worked alongside Nick Aldis, the general manager, in selecting a contestant for the Royal Rumble event.

On April 6, Ava Raine displayed the new NXT Women’s North American Championship at the NXT Stand & Deliver event. Similar to the men’s title, this was the first female-exclusive secondary championship in WWE history.
