As a seasoned Outlander fan who’s been through the trials and tribulations of Claire and Jamie, I can’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for the new characters introduced this season, like Jane, played by Silvia Presente. Her character, Arabella in the brothel, has a heart-wrenching backstory that resonates deeply with me.
Silvia Presente assumes a significant part in William’s narrative within Outlander season 7, episode 12, portraying the character Jane. Initially, we encounter her as Arabella in the brothel. In the Outlander book series, who is she known as?
We’re diving into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood spoilers in this post.
As William uncovers his family history, he sets out on a journey of self-discovery. He’s enraged by the circumstances, and it’s understandable why. Not only has everyone close to him deceived him, but now he’s unsure about his true identity. Can he still claim the title of lord when he’s discovered he’s born out of wedlock?
In the pages of his books, he encounters Arabella, and they establish a connection that transcends mere friendship. It’s not romantic love, but it carries an undercurrent of fascination and concern. Now, let’s delve into the character of Jane, and explore what lies ahead for Jane and William as the story unfolds further.
Jane has a heartbreaking story in Outlander
In the captivating world of Outlander novels, I find myself deeply moved by the resilience of Jane, a character who’s merely striving for survival. After tragically losing her entire family, she found herself in a desperate situation, forced to resort to prostitution as a means to protect and care for her beloved sister, Fanny.
But then events shift dramatically as Captain Harkness becomes enraged at having missed out on Jane, and he seeks revenge. Finding an opportunity in taking Fanny’s virginity seems like the perfect means for him. However, determined to safeguard her sister’s dignity and well-being, Jane resolves to eliminate Captain Harkness instead.
She requires assistance from William to extricate both her and her sister from a predicament. They successfully elude their troubles with the aid of William and Rachel, but their freedom is short-lived. A friend of Captain Harkness identifies Jane, leading to her arrest for murder. In the meantime, William sets up protection for Fanny through Jamie and Claire. Tragically, while in prison, Jane takes her own life.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel the poignancy of Jane’s tale. Yet, it sheds light on the character of William, revealing a man who is willing to stand tall for those who lack the means to protect themselves. He knows that sometimes harsh realities are essential to safeguard oneself or cherished loved ones. Sharing an unbreakable bond, this understanding helps William navigate his anger amidst his present predicament.
