Who is Akhil Akkineni?
Akhil Akkineni, the son of actors Nagarjuna and Amala, was born on April 8, 1994, in California. He shares a sibling relationship with Naga Chaitanya as half-brothers. Prior to his time in Australia for two years, he attended Chaitanya Vidyalaya.
Akhil finished his studies at Oakridge International School, located in Hyderabad. At sixteen years old, he chose to delve into acting and enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, based in New York City. During his teenage years, cricket was another passion of Akhil’s; he joined his father’s Nag Kings team for the 2010 Celebrity Tollywood Trophy tournament.
Discussing his film journey, Akhil first stepped into the world of cinema as a baby in the 1995 film Sisindri. Later, in 2014, he graced the screen briefly in Manam, a movie showcasing multiple generations of the Akkineni family. His performance during the film’s ending was highly praised by many. The movie was one of the most successful Telugu films at that time and received numerous accolades.
In 2015, Akhil made his first major appearance as an actor in the movie named ‘Akhil’. The film was overseen by director V.V. Vinayak. Even though there were high hopes for this debut, it turned out to be a flop at the box office. After a gap of two years, Akhil appeared in ‘Hello’, which also failed to meet expectations. His third movie, ‘Mr. Majnu’, too, underperformed despite generating positive excitement before its release.
In 2021, Akhil tasted triumph with the romantic comedy Most Eligible Bachelor. Regrettably, his subsequent movie, Agent, was a significant box office flop in spite of a substantial financial investment.
