The series titled “Suits LA” made its debut on NBC on February 23rd, capturing a lot of attention from viewers. This is a spin-off from USA Network’s Suits, following the story of Stephen Amell’s character, Ted Black, who was once a prosecutor in New York and now represents wealthy individuals in Los Angeles. The first episode also features the late John Amos. Viewers are curious about the role he played in the show.
John Amos’ role in Suits LA, explained
In the TV series Suits LA, the character portrayed by John Amos (who sadly passed away at 84) assumes a fictionalized version of himself. This on-screen persona is in his senior years, and requests Rick Dodsen, played by Bryan Greenberg, to arrange an audition for him in an upcoming project. However, the role is 15 years younger than Amos’ age, which initially makes Rick hesitant due to having to work behind Ted’s back. Despite this reservation, he eventually consents to help out.
In the subsequent part of the show, the character representing Amos reappears and speaks with Ted about the turmoil at his company. They exchange words regarding Rick’s sudden departure, which Ted views as a breach of trust. Amos encourages Ted to look back on how his relationships with others have evolved over time.
It’s said that this was Amos’ last acting role before his passing on August 21, 2024. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Amos is known for roles in shows like Good Times, Die Hard 2, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Coming to America, and its sequel, Coming 2 America.
Speaking to People about his partnership with Amos on Suits LA, series creator Aaron Korsh shared, “Since he was a massive, legendary figure in my childhood, meeting someone like him brings back memories of what young me would have thought. It was incredible! He was truly an outstanding individual, and the whole experience was fantastic.
Suits LA will run for 10 episodes.
